Learning Strategy - read a book, either in paper or eBook version, while being accompanied by the same title in audiobook form. Just reading alone will not help your pronunciation because English is not a phonetic language. If you are hearing the word as you read it, your brain will make the connection, and next time you see that word, you will know how to pronounce it. And next time you hear that word, you will know how it’s spelt. I encourage you to try out this method because it will transmute your reading retention, your spelling, your vocabulary, your pronunciation, and your listening skills.

Use Your Boston Public Library eCard and get access to 800,000 eBooks and audiobooks. Borrow up to 10 items for 21 days. Renewal on most items. Some audio & eBooks have hundreds of copies. In Overdrive, you may have to put a hold on an item if someone else checks it out (depending on how many copies), much like a regular paper book.

From Learning Ally: Students who qualify may have an IEP or 504 plan, but those are not requirements. It is up to the individual teacher to determine a student’s eligibility. If a teacher determines that a student is not able to keep up with grade-level reading, because they are struggling for whatever reason, then the student qualifies for Learning Ally.
