.AudioBooks - Audiobooks are engaging because human beings have been communicating with stories long before we the written word. Myths, legends, and storytelling communicate on a deep level that is hard to forget. Stories are identifiable. Stories stick in our heads. Storytelling and can really suck you into the world the author has created. Stories are more powerful today than ever. Why, because we are drowning in information. Good stories can cut through the noise. Personal stories feel “real” vs abstract concepts, statistics, or logical arguments. Stories capture people on an emotional level, creating a deeper, intimate bond. Stories are memorable. People forget facts but they remember stories.

There are many options for eBooks making the reading experience comparable to traditional paper books. Ebooks have many functions to enhance the reading experience beyond traditional paper books, such as larger font sizes, sharper contrast images and fonts, night reading features that are easier on your eyes like black paper with white letters, and many other options depending on the eBook and the eReader. 3.Ebook & Audiobook combined - When reading a book either in paper or eBook form and accompanying it with the same title in audiobook form this maximizes your reading and learning abilities as a student. “Just reading alone will not help your pronunciation because English is not a phonetic language. If you hear the word as you read it, your brain will make the connection, and next time you see that word, you will know how to pronounce it. And next time you hear that word, you will know how it’s spelt. I encourage you to try out this method because it will transmute your reading retention, your spelling, your vocabulary, your pronunciation, and your listening skills” (Vaporis, Audio & eBooks, para 1).

.Storyline – Storyline is a bit of a combination of all three of the above but presented in one place. Storyline has award winning actors reading books with type and picture presents. Storyline allows you to read and hear the book passively or read out loud with the reader. Storyline has been shown to improve reading, writing and communication skills, logical thinking and concentration, and general academic aptitude. Storyline will help and inspire you to be a lifelong reader.
.Choral Reading: students should find two or three other students and create a study group for reading. You may also ask a teacher, or Mr. Vaporis the librarian, to create a group for you. Choral reading is when the group reads the same text, aloud, and in unison. This creates a low-pressure environment that builds your self-confidence and reading skills. “Students who may ordinarily feel self-conscious or nervous about reading aloud [or individually] have built in support” (Choral Reading, para 1,2).
.Course Hero – Course Hero contains study guides to help you with comprehending books you may find difficult. Course Hero contains a book summary, character summaries, symbolism explained, and an explanation of themes. In addition, there are famous quotes, chapter by chapter summaries, the author’s biography, and discussion questions. There are also many visual representations of the book, the characters, plot diagrams all for visual learners. In addition, Course Hero has an excellent YouTube channel for those who learn well with video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zoa6mOc163w&list=PLz_ZtyOWL9BRigLu-BxBuCpP3z1g6Fjx4 Lastly, there is a downloadable poster that I recommend printing out and having on hand while reading.
